Abstract

The prevalence of gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) is high in Western countries and ranges from 13% to 20% in the US and from 9.8% to 18% in Europe, while in Asia it is lower (2.5–4.8%). GERD is a pathological condition as a result of reflux of gastric contents into the esophagus with various symptoms that arise due to involvement of the esophagus, larynx, and airways. The purpose of this study was to identify internal and external risk factors and clinical problems in patients, as well as to manage patients holistically by applying family doctors according to evidence based medicine through a patient centered and family approach. The analysis of this study is a case report. Primary data were obtained through history taking (autoanamnesis and alloanamnesis), physical examination and home visits. Secondary data obtained from the patient's medical record. Assessment based on a holistic diagnosis from the beginning, process, and end of the study qualitatively and quantitatively. Patient Mrs. S, 56 years old, who has been diagnosed with GERD, is worried that his complaints will get worse and interfere with the patient's activities because the abdominal pain is recurring. Lack of support and knowledge of the family about the disease, risk factors, and complications of the disease suffered by the patient and the lack of supervision and family support for the patient's diet. Holistic and comprehensive management of the patient's problems An. NO has been carried out by providing counseling to increase patient and family knowledge about diarrheal diseases and clean and healthy living.
