Obesity or being overweight is an abnormal accumulation of fat and many risks to health. Recorded every year there are 4 million people die because of being overweight. This prevalence shows that there are more individuals who die because of being overweight than being underweight. Many factors are the cause of excess body weight, including gender, working and highly educated mothers, high socioeconomic status, number of family members, individuals who consume junk food and sweet food, the habit of not having breakfast, little physical activity, obesity that has occurred in parents (heredity), birth weight, and lifestyle at risk of obesity. Nutraceuticals can be a support for weight management with various mechanisms, namely reducing body mass index, waist circumference ratio, visceral fat levels, and lipid levels in the body. The purpose of writing this article is to find out which nutraceuticals can be consumed as a means of managing excess body weight. The source tracing method was carried out using the Google Scholar, Pubmed, and Science Direct electronic databases with a range of journal publications in the last 10 years (2013-2023). The results of the search found several nutraceuticals including probiotics, conjugated linoleic acid, polyunsaturated fatty acids (Omega-3), epigallocatechin-3-O-gallate (EGCG), and chromium and carnitine. Nutraceuticals have the potential for effective weight loss.
