Abstract

Osteoarthritis (OA) is a progressive degenerative joint disease characterized by damage to joint cartilage and diarthrodial joint structures. In Indonesia, OA is the most common rheumatic disease compared to other rheumatic diseases. The causes of OA are multifactorial, especially increasing at the age of 50 years, including gender, obesity, genetic and racial factors, family history, joint injury, strenuous physical activity and exercise habits, work, and repetitive joint use. The method used is study analysis. Primary data were obtained through history taking, physical examination and home visits to complete family data, psychosocial and environmental data. Assessment is carried out based on a holistic diagnosis from the beginning, process, and end of the study quantitatively and qualitatively. The patient is Mrs. P, 64 years old with a diagnosis of Osteoarthritis. Patients have internal risk aspects of lack of knowledge about OA, curative treatment patterns, irregular eating patterns. The external risk aspect for the patient is the lack of knowledge and family support in treatment. Furthermore, holistic management of patients and families is carried out through flipchart intervention media in the form of information about OA and recommended activities for patients, educating about simple physical exercises. In the evaluation, it was found that the patient's complaints were reduced, and they were willing to consume food with a good lifestyle and try regular exercise. Holistic management can improve knowledge, attitudes, and behavior in patients. In addition, the role of the family is very important in the care and treatment of patients and support is also needed
