Abstract

Lampung is in the 20th place with 3593 cases of HIV infection and 19th place with 1,035 cases of AIDS as of December 2019 in Indonesia. The number of HIV/AIDS cases reported in Lampung was 171 cases. Children suffering from chronic diseases such as HIV/AIDS need to have optimal health. Chronic physical impairment on children living with HIV/AIDS causes high psychosocial adaptation problems and decreased quality of life. Family social support is very important in helping each individual solve problems. Support can be in the form of emotional control, assistance in carrying out their functions and roles as children, as well as information assistance received by children that can have positive impact on children. This research was conducted in November 2020 – Januari 2021 at Poli VCT Abdul Moeloek Hospital Lampung with an observational analytic design with cross-sectional approach. Sample of 50 guardians of children living with HIV/AIDS who underwent treatment at Abdul Moeloek Hospital Lampung. Bivariate analysis was performed using the chi-square test. The results showed that there was influence of family social support on the quality of life on children living with HIV/AIDS at Abdul Moeloek Hospital, Lampung (p-value = 0.021; PR = 1.909).
