Signs of a person suffering from GAD are feelings of anxiety that are not triggered by a particular object, situation, or activity, this state is more independent. In Indonesia there are as many as 14 million people experiencing mental disorders including anxiety disorders. The pharmacological treatment of choice for the management of GAD is benzodiazepines. However, the use of benzodiazepines sometimes causes some problems such as tolerance, dependence, and impaired consciousness. Ginkgo biloba is a plant that has long been used for medicinal purposes. Ginkgo biloba has the ability to reduce symptoms of anxiety disorders. Several studies have shown that ginkgo biloba extract has comparable effects to modern antidepressant drugs. The use of ginkgo biloba also did not show a strong anxiolytic effect both in the short and long term. The mechanism of ginkgo biloba in reducing symptoms of disorders is suppressing CRH, lowering serotonin and dopamine levels, as well as antioxidant benefits.
