Better access to health services provides an opportunity for people to provide medicine in their homes. However, this has become a new problem because medicinal waste is not disposed of in the right place. Drug waste is hazardous waste which can pollute the environment if it is not managed properly. Thus causing environmental pollution that has a negative impact on individual humans and the environment. Inappropriate drug disposal by the community due to ignorance and confusion regarding how to properly dispose of drug waste. The government itself has made regulations regarding medicinal waste materials, which are regulated in the Minister of Environment and Forestry Regulation Number 56 of 2015 concerning Procedures and Technical Requirements for the Management of Hazardous and Toxic Waste from Health Service Facilities. The community itself still does not fully understand regarding the correct disposal of medicinal preparations so that it also has an impact on drug wastage due to storing medicines. So that the Indonesian government and the Indonesian Pharmacist Association need to provide more massive education in the management of drugs and residual drugs to the public to minimize the various negative impacts that arise. Education can be in the form of educational campaigns, media posters, guidelines and regulatory interventions regarding the safe disposal of unwanted or unused drugs that are promoted more effectively among the general public, so that people understand about proper waste disposal.
